Ron Chew Healthy Aging and Wellness Center

Rooted in community, designed for dignity—bringing care, connection, and daily joy together for an aging international community.

The new 23,500 sf PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) center located in the Pacific Medical Center North Lot Development. Aptly named after the well-known community leader, the Ron Chew Healthy Aging and Wellness Center provides a state-of-the-art senior care facility program that will serve 400 senior residents steps from downtown Seattle. PACE is designed to empower seniors to stay active, stay connected, and stay rooted in their own homes and communities. The program provides a community center for seniors, meal programs, community outings and wraparound healthcare services with an on-site clinic, physical therapy and personal care space.  Miller Hayashi took care to design spaces that were comfortable, inviting and inclusive in the care and service of seniors, as well as providing a respite for staff to step away for their breaks to enjoy the views of a greenery and iconic downtown view. The center design includes gracious entry with a rotating gallery wall, dining and activity space with a commercial kitchen and downtown views, with outdoor balcony to look out over the adjacent childcare center’s play area, and vibrantly designed socializing zones for the mix of endless games and quiet conversation or rest. The project is targeting LEED Silver.
