Neighborcare Health 45th Street Dental Clinic Expansion
Expanding community dental care in Wallingford’s historic Fire & Police Station with a modern, light-filled clinic designed for comfort, privacy and enhanced staff workflow.
Neighborcare Health approached Miller Hayashi’s team with the task of modernizing and expanding their dental clinic on the second floor of the landmarked Wallingford Fire House originally constructed in the early 1900’s.
The existing clinic was closed off from the main circulation pathway, and very compartmentalized in the layout and restricted flow within some of the dental operatories. While there were lots of opportunities to make a light and bright filled space, the previous layout had many internal rooms without daylight access.
In the new clinic, walls were taken out and spaces were opened up into a bank of open operatories with a main circulation spine, expanded lab and sterilization areas as well as exposing some of the historic charm of the structure, recalling the past use of the building.
Part of the expansion included a large staff break room, conference room and an open inviting reception for patients to clearly navigate.
