Meany Middle School

Expanding space and natural light to create an accessible and welcoming learning environment.

The 126,000-square-foot Meany School campus was constructed in four major stages over the past 100 years. This project reconfigured the school to reopen as a comprehensive community Middle School.

Hallways were re-routed and daylight was introduced to create a flexible, open student commons in the center of the school. Renovation included seismic upgrades, recladding and window replacement for energy performance and student comfort, new building systems and reconfiguration of learning and social spaces to reinforce current educational approaches.
