Medina Residence

Enhancing interplay between indoor and outdoor space.

A new 7,500-square-foot home in Medina, Washington. The client requested an open, modern, home that had a direct connection to the outside. The design centers around a large kitchen and gathering space, where the clients like to spend a majority of their time.

The boundary between interior and exterior is blurred by a series of folding glass partitions, allowing the client to take advantage of the exterior living space and glass edged pool. The interlocking masses of the house are wrapped in a warm cedar that is juxtaposed with concrete and blackened steel panels.
